1. About Gadgetplace

Gadgetplace is an online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and other gadgets in Nigeria. We provide escrow payment protection, identity verification, and transaction infrastructure. We are not a retailer — we facilitate transactions between independent buyers and vendors.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Nigeria to use Gadgetplace. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will use the platform in accordance with these terms.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Your phone number is your primary identifier. Do not share your OTP with anyone — Gadgetplace will never ask for your OTP.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the platform.

4. Buying on Gadgetplace

When you purchase a device, your payment is held in escrow until you confirm receipt. You have a 2-hour review window after delivery to inspect the device. If the device does not match the listing, you may open a dispute before confirming receipt. If you neither confirm nor dispute within the review window, the escrow auto-releases to the seller.

Confirming receipt releases payment to the seller. Once confirmed, transactions are final except in cases of fraud or misrepresentation investigated by Gadgetplace.

5. Selling on Gadgetplace

Vendors must complete identity verification (BVN) and bank account verification before selling. By listing a device, you confirm that:

• You are the legitimate owner of the device
• The device is not stolen, blacklisted, or under finance agreement
• All information in the listing is accurate
• The device will be delivered in the condition described
• You will hand over the device to the assigned rider within 4 hours of payment

Gadgetplace charges a tiered platform fee on completed transactions, based on the transaction value. This fee is deducted before your payout is processed.

6. Prohibited Items

The following are prohibited on Gadgetplace:

• Stolen or blacklisted devices
• Devices under active finance agreements without lender consent
• Counterfeit or clone devices represented as genuine
• Devices with MDM locks not disclosed in the listing
• iCloud-locked devices not disclosed in the listing
• Any item not related to consumer electronics

7. Escrow & Payments

All payments are processed through Paystack. Funds are held in escrow from the time of payment until buyer confirmation or dispute resolution. Payouts to sellers are processed within 24-48 hours of buyer confirmation, subject to any applicable payout hold periods (for example, a 48-hour security hold applies after bank account details are changed).

Gadgetplace is not a bank or financial institution. We do not pay interest on held funds.

8. Disputes

Disputes must be opened within the 2-hour review window after delivery. Gadgetplace will review evidence from both parties and make a final decision. Our decision on dispute outcomes is final. See our Dispute Resolution Policy for details.

9. Limitation of Liability

Gadgetplace facilitates transactions but is not a party to sales between buyers and sellers. We are not liable for the quality, safety, legality, or fitness of listed items beyond our dispute resolution process. Our maximum liability to any user is limited to the transaction amount in dispute.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Gadgetplace after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of material changes via SMS or email.
